Belmont, North Carolina was incorporated in 1895 and the textile industry was the main service within the town. Over twenty textile mills were located in the city of Belmont by 1930 which caused a significant increase in the population size. As the city continued to grow and be redeveloped, these mill villages still serve as a legacy and can be seen in some older parts of the city to reflect upon earlier roots.
